Minnetonka Audio Adds Dolby E to SurCode Family Minnetonka Audio Software, Inc. (MASI) announces a new addition to the SurCode family with the introduction of SurCode for Dolby E. The SurCode for Dolby E product line will offer Dolby E software decoding and encoding for various platforms. SurCode for Dolby E Decoder is the first product available for both Pro Tools and Minnetonka AudioTools AWE. This version will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters tradeshow. Scat-style vocals from Dee Dee McNeil
The first collection is “Scat Queen” ($39) by acclaimed vocalist Dee Dee McNeil. Featuring over 200 unique vocal scats, phrases, and one-shots, McNeil’s smooth and sultry voice — recorded at 90, 100, and 127 BPM — will add cool jazz character to any track. These freestyle vocal phrases are arranged conveniently into multis by tempo/key, and by tempo/1st syllable. Rayzoon is proud to announce that ‘BonzoPak’, a sound/style expansion Pak for Jamstix 2, is now available. This is a meticulously recorded Ludwig Maple kit with head selection and tuning based on the habits of John Bonham. We even included the kit played with mallets as well as snare wires off. A great part of the big sound is the 17′ high recording room we used but, thanks to the controllable ambience, users can also dial it down to get a drier, tighter sound.

The Pak also includes 10 new Jamstix styles based on famous rhythms. As always, one can combine styles, drummers and sounds in many ways within Jamstix 2 to achieve an enormous array of grooves and sounds. (more…)

iZotope, Inc. has released iDrum 1.6, a Windows XP/Vista compatible version of its popular iDrum virtual drum machine software. The update is free for registered iDrum customers.

iDrum turns a Mac or PC into a powerful, simple-to-use virtual drum machine. Building rhythmic patterns is lightning-fast with a built-in step sequencer and hundreds of included sounds and patterns that cover a wide range of musical styles. iDrum can utilize users’ customized samples or those from professionally produced libraries. Blue Cat Audio has released Blue Cat’s Remote Control 2.0, a new version of their virtual control surface. It is a set of VST and DirectX plugins for Windows which let you control and monitor in real time several MIDI controllable plug-ins or hardware devices from a single customizable user interface. The new version introduces many user interface changes and new features such as window opacity control and undo/redo.
